Born in 1962, Suzanne DeLaurentiis grew up in New Jersey and spent many years as an actress, singer and dancer on and off Broadway and in front of the camera. In her late teens, she studied opera at Carnegie Hall with the prestigious Carlo Menti. Being a first cousin and having a close relationship with 50's superstar, Frankie Avalon, she followed his footsteps and had a successful singing career and nightclub act by the time she was twenty. By the time she was twenty five, she was an accomplished producer, writer and director of short films, commercials and music videos. In the mid eighties, she opened her own production company, Suzanne DeLaurentiis Productions. This was a natural transition for her , coming from a family of successful filmmakers, producers and directors.

Now into her 30 year career, Suzanne has been honored with several prestigious awards. In 2002, Suzanne was honored with the Terry Scarlett Award for film making by the Marco Island Film Festival, and in 2003 she was presented with The Distinguished Founders Award for excellence in film making by the Palm Beach International Film Festival.

 

In 2006, she won several awards for her feature, 10th and Wolf, a drama about the Philadelphia mob, filmed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The consultant on the film was the most famous mafia informant “Joe Pistone” whose novel was made into the feature film Donnie Brasco. 10th and Wolf starred Giovanni Ribisi, James Marsden, Brad Renfro, Brian Denney, Dennis Hopper, Val Kilmer, Lesley Ann Warren, Tommy Lee, Piper Perabo, and Dash Mihok.

In early 2007, she received the prestigious Opal Award from women in film. She has been honored as a recipient of several proclamations from the mayors of major cities throughout the United States for bringing quality film projects, as well as tens of millions of dollars to the cities’ economies.

In 2008, she was honored by The Hollywood Fame Awards at the Musicbox Theater in Hollywood for lifetime achievement for music in independent films.

Some of her filmmaking credits include 10th and Wolf, Brother's By Blood, Silicon Towers, Pocket Ninjas, Skate Dragons, Twin Towers, Graduation Day, Out of the Black, Shut-up Kiss and Me, A Month of Sundays, The Vegas Connection, Mutant Man, Swiss Family Robinson, Mannequin 2, Rocky V, Transylmania and New Hope Manor.

She has also had a history of winning groundbreaking cases in court having to do with lawsuits against independent filmmakers relating to union issues and distribution.

She most recently started the Cinema City International Film Festival which debuted at Universal Studios in 2007 and was rated one of the top 25 Film Festivals by Movie Maker Magazine. She lectures and conducts workshops, mentoring up and coming actresses and filmmakers and has helped hundreds of talented people jumpstart their careers.

In her spare time she has been very active in raising money for veterans charities, the Boggy Creek Gang, the American Cancer Society, Big Brothers and Sisters, Cops for Causes, the Lupus Foundation, Multi-cultural Youth Foundation and many others.
